This Portland Mold Removal Company Goes Live—and Here’s What We Learned About Google Video Verification

Navigating Google’s video verification process —here’s what you should know.

Hi there,

This week, I want to spotlight a site we launched for a local business doing important work in the Portland metro area NW Environmental Solutions.

They’re a Latino-owned business specializing in professional mold remediation, asbestos removal, and more. Their work protects homes and health, so their site needed to communicate trust, professionalism, and clarity.

This Week’s Question: How Do I Get Reviews on My Website?

This came up while working on this project, and before you can showcase Google reviews on your site, you need to make sure you have a Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business).

For Jose, it wasn’t as simple as signing up. Google required video verification to approve the Google listing. It took a few tries, but we found a helpful YouTube video explaining what to include in the footage—your storefront (or street address), signage, business tools, and workspace.

👉 Here’s the video example that helped:

Once verified, the next step is getting those first few reviews. I always recommend sending a direct review link—don’t just tell people to “Google you.”

👉 Here’s a blog post I wrote on how to get your unique Google review link:

So, how do you show reviews on your website?

I recommend using a tool like Elfsight.

Elfsight lets you embed real, verified Google reviews directly on your website. It pulls in reviews automatically, keeps them up to date, and links back to the original source.
It’s clean, reliable, and shows visitors that your reviews are the real deal.

Alternative option: Copy and paste—if you must.
You can manually add reviews to your site, but only if you have permission and proper attribution. And even then, the internet has mixed feelings about it - here’s why.
